Spirulina is something that we include in our daily natural integrator list since we discovered its amazing properties.
This 'hulk' green is not an herb but an algae (cyanobacteria).
It is rich in Chlorophyll, getting its energy from the sun.
It is also incredibly high in protein, antioxidants, B-vitamins and other nutrients.
It is mainly made up of protein and essential amino acids, and is highly recommended to vegetarians for its high natural iron content.
You can choose either the spirulina in powder or capsule version.
The recommended daily intake is of 1-3 grams, up to 10 grams (two teaspoons).
I don't mind the taste and It also hides very well when combined with fruits.
I love adding 1 teaspoon in my fruit and spinach smoothies or in my pancakes' batter. Everything you will cook with it will take the 'hulk' colour but I'm a huge fan of green and for this reason I can't complain ;)
