I have been realizing, it's been one year I am living in Sicily and I didn't really do a real post about the place itself.
We did visited few places in one year, mostly for competition, but not only. So in this post, I will do a summary of what i have seen in this beautiful country. Unfortunately I didn't take loads of pictures everywhere I went. But I'll try to do my best with what I have..
So let's go for a year in Italy (Mostly south.)
This September I had the chance to visit Milan.
This city surprised me a lot to be honest. Very modern, but full of old buildings. Huge city full of green. It seems nice to live in Milan.
I didn't know how to start the article so I put a pic of what we have down the road. I think it explains how is it here... Ok :p
So, new school year, new place, new stuff. I got the chance to go in sport university in Messina and Gloria to do her last here in here to.
We did come here in early September (they got up to 50°C in august here, i wouldn't have survive).
I already visited my new and future academies, which are part of my university. Very well !
The BJJ academy is a part of Tribe Jiu Jitsu, well known and quiet big here in Italy, didn't get the chance to take any pics yet, but i certified that the technical level is very good. Even if the body shape is quiet different than Ireland or France here (i'm one of the biggest :( ), i'll get the chance to learn a lot for my BJJ and completely different of what i'm used to. That will be all good ! Glad about that !
I also have the chance that the neighbors are part of this very same academy and own a mat they display on our buildings roof to train.
On the judo side, I have the very chance and honor to have a twice olympian (in judo and freestyle wrestling) prof. Katarzyna Juszczak who provides excellent trainings !
I have the intention to compete both in Judo and BJJ this year, if my time and money is okay -student lol-, and i'm sure all those trainings would be very good for me, for my improvement and all the rest.
I can't wait to go back to training again !
How good is to come back home !
Home, Judo Family (because yeah, my club is my 2nd family), that feeling increases even more after living somewhere else. Personally i never did feel belonging here as much as now.
But this summer wasn't a lazy summer, we kept training judo as much as we could, but it unfortunately closes for summer holidays.
We got the chance to be able to train at home as well afterwards
With my club, we got the chance to do a demonstration in the middle of the city, thing i never did before. That was an AMAZING experience in my opinion. I was super happy to do it.
If you wanna check, there is few pics on the facebook page
And, finally we got time to visit a bit and relax !
That's a short article for a long summer, i know, but I just wanted to show the main parts of it !
After 2 years passed in Ireland, we decided to move for an other country.
Those two years abroad have been a very good experience for many things. We discovered a new country, visited it a bit (not as much as we wanted but whatever), meet new people and have taken good opportunities.
But people lives change and so we do.
For our last training we got the chance to visit a friends academy : Jungle BJJ. We do love to do globetrotting, we didn't get the time to do as much matsurfing as we wanted, but we did some at least.
Training there was a good way to finish up the Irish adventure and i'm very glad friends from others academy came as well to tell us good bye. Thanks for all guys =)
Also, we did get the time to say goodbye to our prof Alex. Leite, before leaving. We've been there for over a year, got our blue belts there, and that's something we can't forget for sure ! We learned a lot for our jiu jitsu but also in our lives. It's sad to leave all of that, but in the other hand, that's how life works !
Hope to see everybody soon again !
We do like to travel and train. After a trip around Europe, we couldn't stop doing it. Unfortunately, time is not always there. We try to update this globetrotting blog as much as we can !
